Gum Disease: The Silent Killer, 5 Home Remedies To Cure It Naturally

Home Remedies For Gum Disease
Gum Diseases like gingivitis and pyorrhea occur if the teeth are not brushed properly and food particles are allowed to decay in the mouth. The ideal strategy is to brush after every meal to ward off plaque and keep the teeth and gums in a healthy state.
If bacteria are allowed to thrive, they start attacking the gums, eating into the teeth supporting bone tissues, causing pain and bleeding. If this condition is allowed to remain untreated, there can be loss of teeth. Over the counter products are not only dear but their chemical components can cause damage to the teeth by their extensive use.

Tips To Cure Gum Disease Naturally

Mustard Oil

Mustard oil is found in every home. It is extensively used as a cooking medium for its health benefits. It is rich in vitamins and has antioxidant properties. Take half teaspoon of pure mustard oil in the palm of your hand. With your clean finger rub the oil all over the gums using a gentle circular motion. Rinse with warm water. This will increase the blood circulation, stimulate the gums and soothe the pain. For strong gums use this application daily.

Turmeric

Turmeric is another common ingredient to be found in every home. Its potency to reduce inflammation and fight infection is well known. Take one teaspoon of turmeric powder and mix it with honey to form a thick smooth paste. Apply gently all over the gums and teeth. Leave for three minutes. Rinse with water. The gums will be soothed and feel less tender. Do it every night before going to bed.

Ajwain Or Carom Seeds

Ajwain is known in every home. It is a thorough cleanser and purifier. It is rich in essential oils that have great medicinal properties. It has a pungent aroma. Boil two teaspoons of ajwain in two glasses of water. Boil till the water is reduced to one glass.

Worth Buying

Cool and strain. Don’t throw away the seeds. Rinse your mouth with this water swishing vigorously. After rinsing eat the seeds. The fibre in the seeds will help to do away with the plaque. Your gums will not only be relieved but your mouth will feel fresh and aromatic.

Clove

Clove has amazing healing properties. The essential oils in it have antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. It is a good source of vitamin C which helps in resisting infections.
Rub clove oil on the affected gums twice a day. If the oil is not available, grind cloves to a fine powder, and with your finger rub the powder on the gums and teeth and try to insert it between the teeth as much as possible. Do not rinse or wash away the powder. The gums will absorb the essential oils which will do away with plaque and bacteria.

Rock Salt Or Himalayan Salt

Rock salt is the purest form of salt and contains pure essential minerals. It has been used for healing since ages. It manages pain and swelling. Take a quarter teaspoon of himalayan powder and dissolve it in water. Rinse your mouth with it twice a day.

The Top 6 Must Have Gear Types In Your Bug Out Bag To Save Your Life

For someone new to being a Survivalist building your first Bug Out Bag can seem like a big task. Everybody you read about has been tweaking theirs for months or even years and has a pile of gear built up. It’s hard to know where to start, but if you cover all of the basics in a survival situation you will still be much better off that 99% of the people.
A Bug Out Bag, (also called a BOB, Get Out of Dodge Bag, GOOD, or 72 Hour Bag) is usually designed to get you out of an emergency situation and allow you to survive self-contained for up to 3 days. A lot of people plan their Bug Out Bag to sustain them for much longer than that, but there is always a limit to what you can carry on your back and a 3 day target is a good place to start.

Here are the 7 basic types of gear you will need for your Bug Out Bag:

1. Water

It should go without saying that water is a survival basic for any situation. In a survival situation water quickly becomes the most precious commodity.
1 Liter per day per person is really the bare minimum. So your 3 day Bug Out Bag should have at least 3 liters of water.
To expand your capability or survive longer than a couple of days you will need a water purification system. This can be as simple as boiling water and iodine tablets, or a serious water filter.
2. Food

Backpack Meals
For a 3 Day Bug Out Bag Backpack Meals and Energy Bars can be sufficient. Back pack meals are freeze dried meals that you just add boiling water to. They are light weight and last a long time.
Obviously you will need a longer term food solution in any type of wide area catastrophe, but for your basic Bug Out Bag backpack meals are a good set up.

3. Clothing

Your Bug Out Bag clothes should be similar to what you would pack for a weekend backpacking trip.
  • A pair of sturdy boots or shoes
  • A pair of long pants (preferably not blue jeans)
  • 2 Pairs of socks (preferably not cotton)
  • 2 Shirts (Maybe 1 long sleeve and 1 short sleeve for layering)
  • A Jacket that is both warm and protection from rain
  • Warm long underwear of some kind
  • A hat
  • A Bandana
This list could go on for a while and many people would never dream of leaving their Bug Out Bag without twice that much, but in a pinch that set up could get you by for 3 days.
Be sure to plan for the weather in your area:  have seasonal clothes in your bug out bag

4. Shelter

If you are going to survive for 3 days you are going to need protection from the elements and a warm dry place to sleep. You need at least:
  1. Some type of tent or tarp and a way to set it up
  2. A ground tarp for underneath your shelter to stay dry  or a sleeping pad (Never underestimate the importance of this)
  3. Some type of Bedroll, preferably a good sleeping bag.

5. First Aid Kit

Trying to cover everything you need in your Bug Out Bag First Aid Kit is another article entirely to itself, probably several more. I won’t try to cover it because I would surely leave something out.
What I will do is recommend that you build your own First Aid Kit instead of buying one of those prepackaged first aid kits that claim to have 1001 things to get you through any emergency. While some are ok, in my experience these types of kits are usually filled with a lot of stuff you are unlikely to need and not enough of the things you will probably need a lot of.

Plus, building your own first aid kit gives you an intimate knowledge of what it contains and how to use it. How many people buy one of those pre-made set ups and just assume they are prepared because there’s so much crap in it there must be what I need? Bad Idea.

6. Basic Gear

Basic Gear sounds repetitive (what have I been talking about?) but it is my category for the things you absolutely cannot live without but don’t really fit well into another category. Many survivalists will not like this list because it is not exhaustive by any means, but again I will say: It will be enough to get you by for a couple of days.
Rain Gear – at least 2 ways to stay dry in the rain. Poncho and Coat are good coupled with your Tent/Shelter
Fire – A bare minimum of 3 different ways to make fire. With that you can get a flame but you will have to actually build the fire up too! A great one is Everstryke - survivor life fire starter.

You’re also going to need something to cut your firewood and a knife uses too much energy long term so have a chainsaw!

Cooking – Bare minimum here is a small pot/large cup to boil water in for both drinking and freeze dried meals. A small backpacking stove and fuel are better.

Light – At least 2 dependable flashlights and a backup set of batteries for each.

Survival Knife – The most used and most versatile tool in your Bug Out Bag is your survival knife.  I wrote more about this here:  7 Things You Should Consider before Choosing Your Survival Knife.

Top 3 Reasons For Having a Vitamix Blender

I know a lot of people say that any blender is great and the price of the Vitamix blenders is not justified. Let me break it down why it is really worth investing into a Vitamix blender as opposed to the cheap variations.
1. Most of the blenders can only make smoothies - that's it, on the other hand, you can use the Vitamix not only for smoothies, but to make soup, sauces, ice-cream, peanut butter and so on in seconds. You can prepare all your main dishes with it in seconds. It really frees up a lot of time that you can spend with your loved ones.
2. The Vitamix blenders come with 7 years guarantee. Whatever goes wrong you are covered. No need to buy a new blender every other month.
3. You are also given hundreds of recipes - no more headache about what to cook for your family; what's more, cleanup is really simple: you just run soapy water through and you're done.
One more note on the Vitamix vs Blendtech argument: In my opinion Vitamix performs better in everything and it is more price worthy as well. If you want to - for example make peanut butter, you have to purchase another container with blades in the case of Blendtech, which costs you $100+, while when you purchase a Vitamix, you are set to go. No further purchases required.
I also love the fact that I can manually time the Vitamix. Time depends on what fruit and vegetables you put in in what percentage. It's NEVER the same. So with Blendtech you can end up with having to start the automatic thing again as there is no option of setting the time manually.
The 64 oz container is enough for the whole family. If you live alone you can fill it only halfway and put the remaining stuff into your fridge for a later time. What I also love about Vitamix is that they really look after their customers. You can have the 64 oz container and also fit the blender under your counter if you wish so. For this special reason they developed the 750, which is one of the most favorites among the Vitamix blenders.
Another thing I love about the company is that they developed several types from these blender. Each one of them looks somewhat different, so you can choose the one that you like the most and/or that suits your kitchen best. Their price point also differs, making it possible for everyone to enjoy the benefits these blenders can offer.

Wheatgrass juice - how to start drinking it

Not long ago I bought a wheatgrass juicer  (I bought Lexen, which you can see on the image ) because I heard so many good things about drinking wheatgrass. I also tasted the "juice" at a health festival - true it was from powder, not the freshly pressed juice. I liked the taste and thought it would not cause me any problems as some people reported due to fast detoxification in the body.

Then I went to a bio store and bought my first batch of wheatgrass. Luckily the shop assistant asked me several questions about how I would like to consume it and whether I have already drunk it. So she advised me to dilute it with water when I first start. I thanked her and proudly walked home with my wheatgrass.

Then, when I first pressed the juice out  I - of course- tasted the juice that came out. It was so intense I couldn't drink it!!!! I was wise enough to only take a sip from it luckily, so immediately I diluted it in a 1-10 proportion. This time I managed to drink half of it. ( The original amount was 20 ml - but I suggest starting with only 15 ml per day)

I learned my lesson - again - to listen to those who already have experience because she was right: wheat grass juice from powder doesn't even come close to the freshly pressed one.

My advice to you when you start out: take it step by step. First buy the wheatgrass powder so that your body gets accustomed to the taste and detoxifying effect, then go juicing but even in this case first start out with diluted wheatgrass juice.

Here you will find some pictures of me using the juicer and end result:

Raw Food Recipes for Beginners - Super-Energizing Breakfast Smoothies!

One of the most common complaints received from people concerning transitioning to a raw food diet is how complicated the recipes are. So many contain ingredient lists a mile long and either requires a twelve-step process to make or twelve hours of dehydrator time. Few people have the time to plan meals twelve hours in advance and these complex recipes can be quite daunting for even the most experienced raw-foodies, let alone a beginner.
That being said, some of the most delicious recipes are the least complicated you will come by. These raw food recipes for beginners are dietary staples and encourage great nutrition, amazing taste, while requiring very minimal preparation time.
One such recipe is a super-energizing breakfast smoothie. Called "green drinks" or "green smoothies" among many in the raw food community, this recipe provides you with amazing, mind-clearing energy through raw, all natural, core nutrients that can be found right in your refrigerator.
Greens are arguably the most essential component to our diets. From greens we receive vitamins, minerals, fiber, and proteins, so it is no wonder you experience a surge of energy when you supply your bodies with these core nutrients found in the most basic raw food recipes for beginners. As a society, we are recommended to consume a minimum of five servings of vegetables and fruits a day but unfortunately, the standard American diet has less than 30% of Americans meeting that goal (26.3% according to a study done by the CDC in 2009).
These simple raw food recipes for beginners allow you to incorporate all of these essential energizing nutrients into your diet. One 14-ounce serving of a blended green drink can have three to four servings of fruits and vegetables each. Green drinks can be made with a variety of ingredients, the most popular being Spinach, Kale, Romaine lettuce, and Red Leaf lettuce. Numerous fruits can also be used including red or green grapes, blueberries, strawberries, kiwi, pineapple, oranges, and lemons, making green drinks incredibly versatile to personal tastes.
Transitioning to a raw food diet can be diet and creating raw food recipes for beginners can be difficult when switching cold-turkey. To make transitioning to a healthier lifestyle easier begin with one meal at a time. Start with breakfast, there is one raw food breakfast that not only tastes delicious but takes five minutes to make and will keep you energized all day long. When you have a good breakfast under your belt it will not only start your day off right but make your transition that much easier. Click here to check out the recipe that will wake you up and keeps you going every morning.

Raw Food Diet Ideas

Raw foods are becoming popular again. It's a kind of cultural idea that is wonderful and beneficial to good health. Many years ago, around 1980, I was involved with a Wheat Grass Institute and teaching people about raw foods, how to live on them every day, and how to use raw foods to heal from illness. The entire raw food lifestyle was pretty basic back then, when it was mostly sprouts, juices and vegetables and creative salads and sprouted breads or patties.
These days, we have gourmet raw food chefs that are amazing. They make the most wonderful creations of all kinds of combinations of raw foods, making them into patties, loafs, raw pizza, raw apple pie, raw crackers, raw sprouted grain bread, raw "spaghetti sauce" with grated zucchini and more. Or, they bring together magical combinations of foods, like almonds, walnuts and some veggies, maybe a little onion, some carrot and put those in a food processor with seasonings such as soy sauce for a high protein "nut cheese" mixture we can put on our salad.
Here are a few quick ideas on how to integrate super healthy raw foods into your daily routine.
Let's start with avocados. Avocados provide essential fatty acids and concentrated protein easy to add to a salad. Add some lettuce, tomato, cucumber and cabbage to jazz it up a bit. A favorite breakfast combination is avocado and banana just sliced together, a delicious way to combine fat, protein with carbs, to slow down blood sugar overload from the carbs in the banana, and easy enough for a baby to digest.
Sprouts are another amazing part of the raw food diet. What sprouts do for us is give us a very vital seven-day nutrient, containing powerful enzymes and life force of early plant growth; they are super rejuvenating and restorative to life force of the body. We rarely have to grow our own sprouts anymore since so many of them are generally sold in grocery stores. It's easy to pick up everything from wheatgrass to alfalfa and clover sprouts or traditional Oriental mung bean sprouts.
We can make some incredible dips and dressings out of raw foods. For instance, soak a half a cup of sunflower seeds, in a cup of water overnight (begins the sprouting process, making more digestible). Put in the blender with a little soy sauce, a bit of curry powder, some nice spices and herbs, and maybe a touch of honey and/or lemon juice. Blend the mixture till smooth, and you've got an incredible vegetable dip or salad dressing that's very nourishing, and filled with protein and essential fatty acids.
Another fun raw food concept is to make dehydrated vegetable chips. Slice zucchini, sweet potatoes or other seasonal raw vegetables, and put a few herbs on them and possibly a little bit of soy sauce or earth salt and chili pepper. Dry them in a dehydrator or low-temperature oven and they'll be like a potato chip but with no fat. They're not fried and not cooked, just a fun, healthy raw food snack that mimics something familiar, so it helps us with dietary transition towards more raw.
Another treat to make in the dehydrator is vegetable/nut patties. Soak nuts and seeds such as almonds and sunflower seeds, drain and grind in a food processor. Put into a mixing bowl, and add grated zucchini squash, yellow squash, carrots, maybe some diced peppers. Add favorite herbs and spices for seasoning: a little oregano, dill, a pinch of curry and cumin. Stir and you'll have a nice soft mixture. Form the mix into patties, and dehydrate these for about 12-15 hours. You will have a nice little patty that can be served along with salad for a snack or as a main dish.
Adding raw foods to the diet will increase vitality, energy and immune system health. Give these ideas a try and look for more raw food ideas.

Starting A Raw Food Diet Easily

Starting a Raw Food Diet Easily

starting a raw food diet
Starting a raw food diet is essentially a way of eating that does not involve the heating of foods. Heating foods above 118 degrees fahrenheit (40 degrees celsius) destroys their inherent food enzymes, a vast majority of vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients, and their all important life force.

Natural food enzymes are extremely important because our bodies  produce only a limited amount of its own enzymes. Our bodies produce metabolic and digestive enzymes as well. The latter are used to break down foods whereas the former are essential to every single reaction in the body. The main problem is that we only produce a finite number of these enzimes.

When you eat cooked foods, you force your body to use more of its own enzyme reserves to digest them. Over time, this is just like continually withdrawing money from your bank account without making any deposits. Eventually, you will run out of enzymes!

Eating raw foods helps you make more "deposits" into your enzyme bank account, allowing your body to preserve its own precious enzymes for more important uses such as breaking down problematic cells, immune complexities, and so on.

The amazing part is that the possibilities are truly endless when starting a raw food diet. Many people think of not being able to eat meat or wheat as a huge limiting factor. But the fact remains that processed, dead foods are dangerous to your body and there are tons of delicious and nourishing raw food recipes that will give you so much more than you can possibly imagine. What's more they taste delicious!
